Timothy M. Prentiss grew up in beautiful Shasta County and after graduating, he went to the College of the Redwoods in Eureka. Then, onto California State University, Chico, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with an emphasis in legal studies. After that, he began law school in Los Angeles, transferred to Cal Northern School of Law in Chico, and graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree, while interning as a certified law student at the Shasta County Public Defender’s Office.

Shasta County Public Defender.

After passing the bar and being licensed as an attorney, Mr. Prentiss began his legal career as a Deputy Public Defender at the Lassen County Public Defender’s Office. To be closer to family, Mr. Prentiss moved back to Redding and began working at the Shasta County Public Defender’s Office. Mr. Prentiss left criminal defense for a time and became a prosecutor in Siskiyou County, handling the most serious cases. This dual experience is unique and will work to your advantage in the complex world of the criminal justice system.
